It is only by using sites like this, or others like it that you can get a true and accurate picture of the symptoms of HIV and AIDS in men.

Primary Stage HIV

The symptoms of primary stage HIV are many and can be very mild. It isn’t unheard of to be asymptomatic either, meaning there may not be any symptoms of HIV at all.

Symptoms of primary HIV infection in men include:

  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Tiredness
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Swollen glands (nodes)
  • Blotchy rashes

These primary stage symptoms are often very mild, so it is easy to mistake them for something else. Illnesses such as a cold or glandular fever are similar in nature to those experienced in this early stage so can be easily misdiagnosed.

The giveaway is the rash, as they aren’t really associated with colds or glandular fever. Anyone displaying these symptoms while have a rash too should do a test or see their physician right away.

After the initial symptoms have gone, HIV will often not cause any more symptoms. During this time, the virus is still reproducing and damaging your immune system but your body isn’t reacting to it in a visible way.

Late-Stage HIV

Late-stage HIV is when the virus turns into AIDS. AIDS symptoms in mendiffer from person to person but generally follow a similar pattern. As with any illness, the rate and severity of symptoms will vary.

Possible AIDS symptoms in men include:

  • Prolonged tiredness
  • Night sweats
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Diarrhea
  • Blurred vision
  • White spots on the tongue or mouth
  • A dry cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Prolonged fever of above 100F
  • Swollen glands

Late-stage HIV is when other illnesses will begin to overwhelm the body. AIDS symptoms in men can become apparent once another illness becomes present and highlights a deficiency in the sufferer’s immune system.

This can take up to ten years to manifest as the virus is a slow, but methodical worker. It takes that long to overwhelm the immune system enough for other illnesses to take hold.

Anyone who recognizes any of these AIDS symptoms in men should notify their medical practitioner immediately. While HIV and AIDS are incurable, there are treatments that can prolong life and keep the virus from completely taking over.

There are home test kits available should anyone want to check for themselves before going to the physician. Most modern test kits are reliable enough to give a good indication of whether someone has the virus or not. So if you recognize any of the AIDS symptoms in men in yourself, it might be wise to try one of these kits first.
